DANCE EXAMINATIONS

We hold annual SFD & RAD examinations.  The students perform set exercises before a highly qualified external ‘interstate for classical’ examiner in late July, early August.

Examinations help teach discipline, self confidence & commitment to work for, and achieve a goal.  Exams begin approximately at age 6, and continue through to late teens. Most students would be ready for each level & teachers work closely with students to assess entry. The majority of students will participate and the examinations are strongly encouraged.

Exam entry forms are handed out at the end of term 1 with all relevant details regarding your exams.  These will be processed and sent of to the applicable academy. Neither the RAD or the SFD accept late entry fees, so take note of closing dates, advertised on this website & on the examination notices. Both the RAD & the SFD will refund 50% of entry fees with a medical certificate in the case of not being able to attend the exam day.

A presentation evening will be held for all exam students at the end of term 3, where students perform short pieces from their examination. Each students recieves a report, certificate & small trophy or medalian in celebration of their wonderful achievements.

These examinations are held for jazz & tap students in July each year.
They start at about 6 yrs at Level 1 and continue to Level 10
These are held at our studios, usually over a weekend.
Students start preparations for these exams at the beginning of the year.
All students are trained and preped to sit the exams but this is not compulsory.
Students missing many classes during the preperation may not be confidant enough to sit exams. Teachers will assess this closer to exam date, as we would like all students to feel confidant in their examination.
All student who have passed an exam receive a certificate, report & small trophy at our presentation day.

Royal Academy Of Dance “RAD” – www.rad.org.au
These examinations are held for Classical Ballet students in July each year.
They start at about 6 yrs at Primary level and continue through to the Major vocational Examinations
Grade exams from Primary to grade 5 are held at our studios, usually on a weekday.
Majors examinations are held in the city, usually on a weekday.
Students start preparations for these exams imediately after sitting the previous exam.  All students participating in graded ballet exams from 1-5 are required to participate in a minimum of two classical ballet classes per week for a minimum of one year before each examinartion. Students preparing for major examinations are required to participate in three classical ballet classes per week for a minimum of one year before each examination.
Students who miss a lot of classes during preparation may not be confidant enough to enter for exams.
